Albert Jennings Pouteaux
Albert Jennings Pouteaux peacefully passed away at the age of 85 years on Thursday, June 20th, 2013 with his family by his side. Albert was born in Bateman, SK on June 9th, 1928. He grew up on the family farm outside of Bateman with his sister, Jacqueline and twin brothers, Roy and Ray. Albert was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with many pets throughout his life. He had a strong passion for farming and was still actively involved in the completion of the 2013 seeding. Albert and Georgina (Arnold) were married on July 18th, 1951. They resided in Shamrock, SK and began raising their 4 children. They purchased a house in Moose Jaw in 1964 and still call it home today. They continued to farm in Shamrock until 1973 when they purchased their farm outside of Briercrest, SK. Albert was a determined and hardworking man who successfully achieved his goal to “get out of the rocks”. He admitted that if not for the rocks and hills he would not have accomplished his goal. Albert, Georgina and family have many fond memories of Brier Farms. Albert and Georgina purchased a home and an orange grove in Weslaco, Texas where they spent 19 winters. They enjoyed the weather and opportunity to make many new friends. Albert was fond of curling, reading, politics and watching TV as a pastime. He had an appreciation and love for vehicles and machinery. Albert always looked forward to family get-togethers where he could visit and enjoy lots of good food. He was a caring and generous man who helped many sort through their problems and come up with a solution that always seemed to be the best resolve for all concerned. Albert is survived by his wife, Georgina; daughter, Sherry (Scott) Duncan; daughter, Cathy (Steve) Gilroy; and sons, Vern and Harold Pouteaux; 7 grandchildren: Steve, Michael, Brandy, Carrie, Nathan, Tyler and Kyla; 10 great-grandchildren: Raea, Kaitlyn, Ryder, Jaxin, Alex, McKenzie, Ben, Willow, Mila and Sullivan. He is also survived by his sister, Jacqueline (Bernard) Novakowski and brother, Roy (Joyce) Pouteaux; sister-in-law, Lucy Pouteaux; brother-in-law, Marvin Barker; sister-in-law, Beverly Arnold; and many nieces and nephews.
