Mary Anne Poole
It is with great sadness that we announcethe death of Mary Anne Poole on Monday, September 24 th, 2007. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 28 th, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph ‘s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3 rd Ave. N.W. Father Francis Folleh will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery . A Vigil Prayer Service will take place on Thursday, September 27 th, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Mary Anne was born in Moose Jaw on July 26 th , 1933 and attended St. Agnes School and the Convent of Sion. Upon graduating she enrolled in Nursing School at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina graduating in 1954. She then furthered her studies in England and was successful in obtaining her mid wife diploma and decided to practice in the Northwest Territories for 5 years. She returned to Saskatchewan and taught Nursing at the Wascana Institute in Regina and Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw . Mary Anne was dedicated to the Medical Profession and served on the boards of Providence Hospital and Providence Place . Also on her return to Moose Jaw , Mary Anne met her future husband, Ken Poole, at a Canuck Hockey game and they were married in 1964. They were season ticket holders and hockey remained an enjoyable part of their social life throughout their marriage. Mary Anne is survived by her loving husband Ken, her sister Geraldine Kobylanski (Kip); four nieces Karen (Mike) DeVries, Brenda (Don) MacDonald, Roberta (Randy) Lopatynski, and Diane (Jim) Shannon; four great nieces; three great nephews; and also one sister in law Fern (Wil) Maisonneuve. Mary Anne was predeceased by her parents Jack and Agatha Dawson; parents in law Arthur and Florence Poole; sisters in law Evelyn Stevenson and Gladys Poole . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Place Foundation Inc., 100 – 2 nd Ave. N.E. , Moose Jaw , Sk , S6H 1B8 in Mary Anne’s name. The family wishes to thank Dr. V. Rininsland and the Nurses and staff of Pioneer Lodge and Providence Place for their excellent care while Mary Anne was a patient.
