Frances Pollock
Frances was granted a peaceful rest April 21 st, 2007. The caring staff of Regency Hospital in Central Butte assisted Fran and her family during her recent lengthy illness. Frances loved her family, community and life in Central Butte. She was born August 4 th, 1922 and raised in the Tuxford area. She graduated as a nurse from the Moose Jaw General Hospital in 1944, and she worked her whole career in Central Butte. In 1946 she married Douglas Theede. Doug passed away in 1961 and in 1969 she married Alex Pollock of the Lawson district. She and Alex became the parents of the blended family of seven children and their families.
Her nursing career put her in contact with many, many people from the hospital district. She enjoyed her years working in the “out patient” department. She retired in 1987. Frances was an active participant in many community activities; the Order of the Eastern Star, the early years of the Agricultural Society and the Annual Summer “Fair”, and the establishment of the Seniors Centre and Regency Manor. She was proud to be one of the first residents of Iver Main Place and enjoyed the fellowship and community of this unique facility.
She was predeceased by her first husband Douglas Theede in 1961, second husband Alexander Pollock in 1999; parents Mary and Herbert Newton; an infant sister Barbara; her step-daughter Linda, and grandsons baby Riley and Jason.
Frances is survived by her two children, son Alan (Moira) Theede of Saskatoon and daughter Mary Anne Theede of Central Butte; five step-children, Sandra (Ken) Graham of Vancouver, Beverley (Garth) Moore of Saskatoon , Donald (Debby) Pollock of Riverhurst, Dale (Jackie Campbell) Pollock of Moose Jaw and Lisa (Rodney) Haley of Riverhurst. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Kathryn, Alison and Scott Theede, Monique, Quentin (Andi) and Preston Moore, Allison Graham, Jane Caragata, Jennilee Pollock, Kristin and Dustin Pollock, Tighe and Jessica Haley and 6 great-grand children.
A celebration of Frances’s life will be held at the Central Butte United Church on Tuesday, April 24th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dale Morrison officiating. Interment will take place at Central Butte Cemetery . There will be a social gathering following the services at the Central Butte Seniors Hall. Donations in memory of Frances may be directed to Iver Main Place, 52 3 rd Avenue W, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0 or to the Central Butte United Church.
