Lorna Jean Pinkerton
Lorna Jean Pinkerton, aged 93 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Thursday, September 15th, 2016 at the Dr. FH Wigmore Regional Hospital. She was born on June 10th, 1923 in the Avonlea district. She was predeceased by her parents, Allan and Annie Pinkerton; sister, Viola (Weber (née Pinkerton); brother-in-law, George Weber; as well as numerous other relatives. Lorna is survived by her niece, Carol (Vincent) Gerlinsky; 4 great-nephews and their families; as well as several cousins. Lorna took her schooling at Richburg School, southwest of Avonlea. She farmed with her parents for many years, and also had a large garden and flowers. Lorna loved playing ball, going to dances, and playing cards. Another passion of hers was her garden and flowers, which she tended to everyday with loving care. In later years, the family spent summers on the farm and winters in their home in Avonlea. Lorna moved to Moose Jaw with her father and bought a house close to her sister. In 2013, Lorna sold her house and moved into the Bentley, where she resided until her passing. Thank you to the hospital for their excellent care, and to the Bentley for making her part of their family. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 21st, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Moose Jaw Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. for procession to the cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Lorna’s name may be made to the Saskatchewan Abilities Council, 2310 Louise Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7J 2C7 or to The War Amps, 1 Maybrook Dr, Scarborough, ON M1V 5K9.
