MELANIE RAE PICKARD
May 20th, 1963 – May 22nd, 2018

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Melanie after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  She was born in Kindersley, SK on May 20th, 1963, and attended school in Kindersley, Humboldt, Watrous, and Vanier Collegiate in Moose Jaw, SK.  Following High School, Melanie worked in retail at the Town & Country Mall.  On December 21st, 1996, Barry and Melanie were married and made their home on the family farm at Crane Valley, SK.  She was predeceased by her grandparents: Alex and Frances Zerff, Valentine and Elizabeth Scherr; uncle, Charles Scherr; godfather, Randy Schikosky; uncles, Gregory and Arnold Zerff; aunts, Loretta (Zerff) Gagnon and Rose Zerff; father and mother-in-law, Cyril and Phyllis Pickard; brother-in-law, Robert Pickard; and sister-in-law, Beverly Pickard.  Melanie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Barry; parents, Ray and Monica Zerff; brother, Kevin (Darla), Ryan and Sara; sister, Connie (Mike) Woit, Jacob and Eric; sister-in-law, Shirley Pickard, her children Lisa, Steven, Renee, Bobby Jo and their families; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.  The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 28th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St, Moose Jaw, SK.  Father Jake Ibay will be the presiding celebrant and a private family interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery.  A very special thank you to all the nursing staff and caregivers who gave Melanie such loving and gentle care during her illness.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Melanie’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
