Sandra Marie Peesker
It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Sandra Marie Peesker, fondly known as Sandy, after a short respiratory illness on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, in Regina, SK. She was predeceased by her mother, Eva; father, Steve; infant brother, Leonard; brother, Eugene; sister, Elaine Semenuik; brother-in-law, Walter Semenuik; sister, Joanne Wilk; brother-in-law, Arnold Wilk; and brother-in-law, Mike Smith. Sandy will be sadly missed by her loving partner, Norm Ebach; daughter, Stephanie (Mitch); siblings: Morris (Debbie) Peesker, Darlene (Gerald) Jacober, Shirley Smith, Andy (Janine) Peesker, Kenny (Debbie) Peesker, Sharon Peesker, Garry (Bev) Peesker, and Bev (Wes) Peesker; and grandchildren, Alivia Annesley, Asher Annesley, and Aston Annesley. She will also be missed dearly by numerous nieces and nephews.
Sandy was born April 25th, 1965 in Foam Lake, SK. She moved to Moose Jaw, SK at the age of 18 to be closer to her sisters and start the next chapter of her life. She enjoyed countless adventures with her sisters and family, playing slow pitch, gardening and planting flowers. It was here that she welcomed her daughter Stephanie, and met her life partner, Norman. She was a hard worker, working at Extendicare for over 28 years where she made a lasting impression on residents’ and coworkers’ lives. She also worked at Rodo’s Pizza for a period of time where she was always a customer favourite. Sandy was a light, always making sure others were taken care of before herself. Sandy loved to feed people (including the neighbours’ dogs), and she and Norm often hosted barbeques, backyard fires, weeknight suppers, Roughrider viewing parties, and birthday parties for her family and grandchildren. She was famously known for her perogies and cabbage rolls and took pride in making them for others. Sandy found much pleasure in family trips and outings with her grandchildren and siblings and looked forward to annual potato picking at her brother’s cottage each year. She knew how to make you feel welcome and her door was always open and ready for gatherings, cards, coffee and lots of laughter. Sandy was a loving mother and shared a special relationship with her daughter, Steph. She was Steph’s go to, her best friend, her home. Sandy’s greatest accomplishment was her title of ‘Nana,’ and her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She enjoyed spending countless hours with them and created a special bond with them. She was their person, their rock.
Sandy was a fun-loving person with a heart of gold – the epitome of sunshine and warmth. She will be remembered for all the love she shared with her friends and family. If you knew her, you knew it. She meant the world to a lot of people and will forever be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Dr. F.H Wigmore Regional Hospital, STARS Air Ambulance, and the staff at Regina General MICU for the care Sandra received.
A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be held on Sunday, December 17th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Those not able to attend may view the service virtually by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. We are so grateful for having known Sandy, called her friend for many years, going back to the 80s. Her authentic kindness, generosity and integrity is a measure that many should aspire to reach, she was the real deal, and when she thought needed, didn’t mince words to set things right or offer you one of her giggles to brighten your day.
Unfortunately we are not able to be with you today in person, but are thinking of you all.
Tim & Bernie
