Audrey Mary Lily Payne

Audrey was born September 28th, 1932.  She passed away with family and friends by her side Saturday July 2nd, 2011.  Audrey graduated from Nursing in 1954 from Providence Hospital Moose Jaw.  In the following years she worked as a registered nurse and a nursing supervisor at the Swift Current Union Hospital.  She met and married Carson Payne shortly after graduating and went on to have 4 children to whom she was very proud. In 1972 she relocated with her family to Moose Jaw where she continued her nursing career at the Union Hospital as an Intensive Care nurse.  Audrey was promoted several times until reaching the position of Assistant Director of Nursing, a position she held until her retirement in October 1993. In 2007 she was awarded the Saskatchewan Registered Nursing Association Life Membership Award. Audrey was an outstanding nurse. She was respected both for her professionalism and her personal approach to patients and family. Our mom was an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider fan and held season tickets for many years, and was so happy to have made it to the Grey Cup in Toronto where Saskatchewan conquered the cup. Go number 83! Audrey and Carson also enjoyed watching the sport of curling and spent many hours side by side cheering on their teams. The most joy she felt was spending quality time with her family and grandchildren. And they loved spending time with her. She cherished her close relationships with her many close friends and loved being with them. Audrey leaves to mourn her husband of 57 years, CarsonPayne; her children: Kevin (Adele) Payne, Cheryl (Tom) Simpson, Marianne (Kevin), Carson(Jocelyn); grandchildren: Nicole (Dave), Brett (Michele), Megan, Alex and Brampton; great grandchildren: Eden, Maguire, Aiden and many nieces, nephews and friends.  A Celebration of Audrey’s Life will be held on Wednesday, July 6th, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Shepherd officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Providence Foundation Inc., attn: Healing Gardens, 100 2nd Ave. N.E. Moose Jaw, SK. S6H 1B8 would be appreciated by the family.
