Blair Richard Palmer

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Blair Richard Palmer.  He passed away peacefully with his family by his side in the early morning of Saturday, August 13th, 2016 at the age of 66 years.  He was predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) and Jean Palmer; mother-in-law, Agnes Butz; and brother-in-law, Sandy Coulter.  Blair will be missed dearly by the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Pam; children, Scott (Tammy) and Stefanie (Scotty); grandchildren: Sidnee (Brandon), Linkyn and Liam; brother, Gerry (Eileen) and their children Dave, Barb (Quade) and Lori (Dave).  He is also survived by his father-in-law, Ray Butz; sisters-in-law, Wendy (Clifford) Keeler and Sandi Coulter; brothers-in-law, Grant (Crystal) Butz and Trevor (Sherry) Butz; along with many nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins.  Blair was born in Kelowna, BC and their family moved back to Saskatchewan when he was three years old, residing in Belle Plaine for about three years and then made Moose Jaw his home.  Blair loved music and when he was a young teen, travelled to Great Britain with the Moose Jaw Lions Club Band.  After he completed his education, his working career started at the Belle Plaine Salt Plant and then contracted at Kalium (Mosaic) doing the blasting for many years.  He finished his career supervising the bagging production line at Kalium and retired at the age of 60.  Blair was a dedicated and well respected man in the workplace.  He was a jack of all trades and could build or fix just about anything.  His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren.  His furry kids, Bailey and Zoie, also brought him much joy.  Blair and Pam enjoyed holidaying in Cuba and spent many great winter holidays in the Dominican Republic with their “amigos” Lawrence and Sharon.  Blair was also known to many as ”Plum” and many a late night party took place at “Plum’s Place” at 878 5th Ave.  He loved woodworking and made several projects for his grandkids, along with some major renovations to his and Pam’s home.  Blair was also a man of few words but had the biggest heart and was always willing to help out with whatever anyone needed.  He was a past Demolay Master Counselor and an active 25 year member of the ACT/UCT Club of Moose Jaw until the time of his passing.  His dry sense of humor stayed with him right till the end and we had some good laughs, even when he wasn’t feeling his best.  At Blair’s request, no funeral service will be held and a private gathering will take place.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
