Lois Olynek
It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Olynek on the 18th of October 2011. She was born on the 30th July 1936 in Hantsport, Nova Scotia. Lois joined the RCAF in 1956 at the age of 21. Lois made her way across the Atlantic Ocean to England where she met and married her husband Oly in 1959. They raised their 2 daughters and retired in Moose Jaw where Lois began her 10 year career at Saan Store. Mom spent her golden years playing cribbage and other games at Maguire Centre at Providence Place. Her evenings were consumed with canasta, nickel bingo, and more cribbage. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Victor John (Oly) Olynek; mother and father, Anna and George Newcomb; brothers, George and Richard Newcomb; father-in-law, Alec Olynek; brother-in-law, Stan Olynek; and sister-in-law, Joan (Pat) McKee. Lois is survived by daughters, Kim (Keith) Blair of Carleton Place, ON; Sharon (Brad) Warn of Moose Jaw, SK; grandchildren, Ariana Marchigiano and Joshua Warn; sister, Margaret Watson; sisters-in-law, Marion and Glenna Newcomb; niece and nephews, Lesley, Tim, Michael and Scott; mother-in-law, Ann Olynek; brothers-in-law, Ray (Pat) Olynek and Dennis Olynek; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Olynek, Priscilla (James) Olynek and Marilyn Olynek; nephews, Lee and family, Scott and Jeffery Olynek; and by special aunts, Olga and Elsie. Cremation has taken place and burial will take place in Nova Scotia at a later date. Please join us in celebrating Lois’ life at a Memorial Tea at High Park Towers, 220 High St. E., Moose Jaw, SK on Sunday, October 23rd, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Providence Place Maguire Centre, 100 – 2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8 or to a charity of one’s choice.
