Lila Bernice Nicolson (née: Detta)
August 11th, 1927 – July 18th, 2019
Lila Bernice Nicolson, aged 91 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away on Thursday, July 18th, 2019. Lila was born in Findlater, SK and was raised on the family farm near Findlater. She was the seventh born in a family of ten. Lila married Allen Nicolson in 1947 and together had four children. Lila loved to sew and bake, and she was known for her sweet tooth! She always had a selection of squares and cookies on hand in case someone dropped in for a visit. Pies were another specialty of hers and until recently, even made her own bread. She always had time to talk and loved her family unconditionally. Lila had a knack of making whoever she talked to feel like the most important person there was. She loved spending time at their cabin at Buffalo Pound Lake, and talked endlessly about her vacation to Hawaii for her 80th birthday. Everyone she met remarked about her youthful, wrinkle free complexion and always did a double take upon finding out her actual age! Lila always was interested in what the grandchildren were up to and loved them all, calling to chat and fill her in on their latest life adventures. She was predeceased by her husband, Allen (Nic); granddaughter, Christine; and great-granddaughter, Cloey. Lila will be greatly missed by her children: Lyle (Sharon), Donna (Don), Glen (Kay), and Starla (Garth); grandchildren: Curtis (Trina), Kent, Chris (Julie), Della (Mike), Denise (Harold), Doreen (Jason), Triston (Michelle), Misty (Jason), Courtney, Brayden, David, Branden, and Ashley; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis and Shirley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with Lila’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lila’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
