Eleanor Newton (Gibson)
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our matriarch, Eleanor Newton (Gibson), on October 13th, 2013 at the age of 88 years. She was surrounded by her children Karen Storey (Bill Muirhead), Debbie Sapieha (Ernie), Lola Newton (Steve Kerr) and Graham Newton (Wendy), and her ten grandchildren, Gillian Pujos-Michel (Jay), Erin (J.D.), Graham and Michael Storey (Jenny), Kristin, Jeff (Katie) and Kaylee Sapieha, Brittni Gillen (Steven), Matt and Jenna Newton and her great granddaughter and namesake, Miss Ellie Jean Pujos-Michel. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Tommy, the love of her life, her parents, Helen and Lyndon Gibson, her brother Glen Gibson, and her two sisters Lola Berglund and Elaine Bland. She is survived by her brother Garth Gibson and her sister Marion Albrecht. Eleanor spent most of her life in the Central Butte area. She was very active in the community, teaching at the Central Butte Elementary School for 22 years, a member of the United Church, the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the local TOPS Club, the Central Butte Senior Citizen’s Club and the Mawer Club. Eleanor enjoyed playing shuffleboard and cards at the Senior’s Centre and visiting her many friends at the Regency Manor and Iver Main Place. She loved to travel the world with Tommy, her family and friends. Her greatest joy was having her family around her table nibbling on her famous cinnamon buns. Eleanor spent the last three years of her life at the Prairie Spring Care Home in Saskatoon. Her family would like to thank the residents and staff for their friendship and loving care. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 19th, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Central Butte United Church followed by a private interment at the Central Butte Cemetery. Pastor Bill Thomson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Assoc. of Saskatchewan Inc., 301-2550 – 12th Ave. Regina, SK S4P 3X1 or the Central Butte Senior’s Centre, Box 509, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0.
