Fred (Roxy) Nestor
March 11th, 1922 – January 10th, 2009
Fred passed away peacefully on January 10th, 2009 at Providence Place in the city of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. His only surviving brother George (Gerrie) was at his bedside. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister Lena Supynuk; his brothers Bill Nestor, Nick Nestor and John Nestor; sister Olga and brother Metro who died in infancy. He is survived by his nephew Jim (Pat) Supynuk; niece Sylvia (Ted) McKenzie; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Fred lived his entire life in Moose Jaw, attended elementary school and worked at Swifts Meat Packing Plant until he joined the army in 1941. Fred served in World War II from 1941 to 1946. On return to Moose Jaw in 1946 he went to work at CFB Moose Jaw and retired in 1982. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Edgar Hall, Providence Place, Moose Jaw for all their care. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Father Brent Kuzyk will officiate with interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Royal Canadian Legion Rites will be conducted by Roscoe Steel of Branch #59. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, January 19th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s name may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, 268 High St. West, Moose Jaw, Sask. S6H 1S8.
