Harvey Joseph Nelson
Harvey Joseph Nelson, aged 51 years of Saskatoon, SK and formerly of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully in his sleep as a result of a heart attack on December 21st, 2011. Harvey was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Dale Nelson. In 1983, Harvey married Marian Meehan and together they raised two children, son Ryan (Marsha Forman) of Moose Jaw; and daughter, Jessica (Jason Cowan) of Coronach. Harvey is also survived by sisters, Valerie (Dean) Klippenstein and Shelly (Rob) McNulty; brothers, Ken (Tammy) and Laverne (Linda); many nieces, nephews and extended family; and loving companion, Oksana. Harvey was born on February 11th, 1960 in Brooks, AB and spent most of his childhood years in Moose Jaw. He graduated from A.E. Peacock Technical High School in 1978 and then obtained his Accounting diploma from STI in 1981. Always the hard worker, Harvey went on to work for International Harvester, Valley View Centre and Canada Post, all in the Moose Jaw area. In 1999, Harvey received the Golden Postmark Award for excellence in the work place, an accomplishment he was very proud of. In 2006, Harvey pursued a career in the automotive industry most recently working for Auto Clearing Chrysler in Saskatoon. Harvey was always easy to get along with and everyone soon became attached to his infectious laugh and easygoing personality. His witty remarks always matched that goofy little smile he carried with him. Those who knew him also knew his dogs Beethoven and Mozart, who Harvey loved to spoil rotten. Harvey had many passions in his life including sports, whether it was playing or coaching softball or cheering on the Warriors. Sports and politics were always his favorite topics of conversation. Harvey also enjoyed hunting, especially with his father and brothers, as well as cooking for his family. A Celebration of Harvey’s Life will take place on Monday, January 2nd, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane, Moose Jaw, SK. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moose Jaw Humane Society or Moose Jaw Minor Girls Fastball Association.
Real sorry to hear about Harvey dieing . Harvey was a good friend when we were young. I left Moose Jaw in 1988 ,and I wish I could have seen him more when we got older. We will meet again Harvey.we had some good times.
