Darlene Faye Nelson
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Darlene Faye Nelson on June 12th, 2013 at the age of 65 years. Darlene was born September 20th, 1947 in Avonlea, SK. She attended Avonlea School where she met the love of her life, Gary Nelson. They were married on February 19th, 1966. She was predeceased by her father, Raymond Daniel; and father and mother-in-law, Roy and Lillian Nelson. Darlene is survived by her husband, Gary; mother, Florence Daniel; children: Laurie Nelson (Mike), Bonnie Nelson (Ward), Terri (Marlyn) Stevens and Jaret (Winter) Nelson; precious grandchildren: Quentin, Jordan, Justin, Samantha, Tyson, Tanner, Connor, Jett and one soon to come; great-grandson, Jaren; siblings: Paul (Georgina) Daniel, Diane (Pete) Park, Doris (Wilfred) Gross and Don Daniel; in-laws: Jean Kincaid, Wally (Doreen) Nelson, Marg (Bob) Hewitt and Bernie Sanderson; cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends. She leaves us all devastated to face the world without her with a huge hole in our hearts that can only be filled with loving memories. Darlene blessed those around her with her nurturing kindness, huge heart, generosity and beautiful smile. She loved spending time in her yard but more than anything treasured time with her family, especially our Griswald family vacations. She spent many hours chauffeuring the grandchildren and attending their activities. Whether it was Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Sunday brunch or Wednesday lunch there was always more than enough food to be had. Darlene spent many countless hours volunteering and fundraising for the community she loved and called home for the past 65 years. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 18th, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Avonlea United Church, Avonlea, SK, with additional seating and live video telecast available at the Avonlea Memorial Rink.
