Ronald Dyson Murrell
Ronald Dyson Murrell, aged 84 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a short illness on Monday, January 13th, 2014. Ronald was born on March 19th, 1929 in Darmoody, Alberta. He was predeceased by his wife, Delores and is survived by his children: Patricia (Keith), Diane (Trevor), Denise (Jim), Wayne (Karen), Neil (Shannon) and Joseph (Sheryl); plus numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Percy Murrell (Olga) and Nora (Elmo) McBride; and his sister, Betty (Mel) Hennefent. Ron is survived by his sisters: Lorraine (Duke) Snider, Patricia Aupperle and MaryAnne (Ed) Brown. He is also survived by his dear friend and companion, Doreen Ferguson and her family. Ron retired after a long career with Central Motors and Band City, later Murray Chev-Olds, in Moose Jaw, however Ron’s energy would not allow for ‘retirement’ as his love for cars and driving kept him employed at Enterprise until he became ill. He provided loving care for his wife Delores during her long illness and spent many years experiencing the activities they both loved: raising an energetic family of six, long motorcycle trips, boating, shopping and camping with his large family and numerous friends at Buffalo View Campground. Ron will be sadly missed by all those who know and love him. The family would like to thank Dr. and Mrs. Geyer and staff; the nursing staff of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, specifically Emergency, 2nd West and 1st East for their care and compassion while treating our sweet dad. There will be a Time of Fellowship for Family and Friends on Thursday, January 23rd, 2014 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Elk’s Hall (Legion), 268 High St. W., Moose Jaw. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ron’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2M2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
