SANDRA ANN MOISAN
June 17, 1948 – October 30, 2007
Jim and Vi Mason were blessed with the birth of their daughter Sandra Ann Mason on June 17th, 1948. She spent her childhood growing up and going to school in Chaplin until graduation
After graduation she moved to Saskatoon to pursue her education and enrolled in a secretarial course. After which she continued to work in Saskatoon. One night in the early spring of 1968 her friends talked her into going on a blind date. That night she met the love of her life…Albert Moisan.
They were married on August 16th, 1969 in Saskatoon. Soon after they were blessed with 3 children Jackie, Christine, and Dean. After 8 years of living throughout Saskatoon, Kerobert, and Martinsville they decided in 1978 to make their home in Humboldt where they were self-employed at “Mid Town Gulf”. After all 3 of her children were in school she decided to take a position as the secretary at the Public School where she stayed for 13 years.
During her time in Humboldt she was very active in the community. Sandy and Al were members of the Jaycee/Jaycetts for a number of years; they were in a weekly bowling league, and enjoyed hanging out with friends, playing pranks on each other and just having fun. When they weren’t running from sport to sport with their children they loved spending time alone together.
After Jackie, Christine, and Dean all graduated from high school they decided to make a move to the mountains where they had always wanted to be. So in 1994 they moved to Canmore, Alberta where they stayed for 3 years. In 1994 there was another addition to the family. Melanie was officially welcomed to the family on Nov 19th when her and Dean were married in Regina. She always loved looking out at the beautiful mountain view.
By 1997 Sandy and Al were blessed with 5 grandchildren Taylor, Justin, Jennafer, Kelsey, and Lisa so they decided to move a little closer to their family. They bought a house at the lake near Buffalo Pound just outside of Moose Jaw. Soon after 3 more grandchildren arrived…Colton, Sara, and Brianna. By 2001 they were the proud grandparents of 8. Her family was her life.
While living at the lake she enjoyed watching various home-renovation shows which gave her alot of ideas on changing the color of her rooms, but instead of just changing the paint color she had Al add a basement and 500 square feet onto the house. She never did try to make anything easy. She always said, “It will only take but a minute”. It took more than a minute but eventually she had the house of her dreams overlooking the lake and her many flower gardens.
Sandy worked at various businesses in Moose Jaw but didn’t find her true calling until she began working at Walmart in 2000. She loved working with everyone there and made many great friends who she enjoyed having coffee and playing poker with. Sandy’s Walmart family has shown tremendous support throughout Sandy’s illness and since her passing. We really want you to know how grateful we are for everything you’ve done.
Sandy had many hobbies, which included snowmobiling, waterskiing, boating, motorcycling, listening to country music, and watching the pet deer and peacock that the hamlet seamed to have adopted. Her real passion though was traveling. Her and Al spent many hours planning trips to Las Vegas, Hawaii, Disneyland, Deadwood, the East Coast, and numerous trips to the mountains. She always had to be on the go, didn’t like sitting still at all.
Al remembers when he first told Sandy he was going to buy his motorcycle, she never actually said it was okay but she did say that it better have a comfortable seat on the back with armrests. She really enjoyed her and Al’s drives in the summer. As for listening to music, Al recalls a few times on the weekends when she would put the Cher DVD on the TV, crank it and cruise around the house cleaning and what not.
Sandy loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would take them on trips to the pool and down to the lake, playing games and just watching them having fun outside. Watching all 8 of her grandkids grow up was everything to her.
After finding out she had cancer in November of last year, things got very tough, but she never gave up. She tried to spend as much time with her family and friends as possible. She was a fighter, which she proved over and over again. After less than a year her cancer finally got the best of her and we all lost the best part of us. Her spirit and memories will be with us forever.
Sandy’s husband Al was one of the most important things in her life. Their love was truly amazing and something that everyone can agree with. He never left her side in her hour of need. We can all be at ease knowing that she is in a better place looking down at us and smiling.
