Patty Lou Michael
Patty Lou Michael passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1st, 2024, in Moose Jaw, SK, with her husband Laird at her side, due to complications of pneumonia and polymyositis. She was predeceased by her father, Glenn Welsh and mother, Beth Rimell. Patty is survived by her husband, Laird; son, Ken (Leslie), grandchildren Nona, Domino and Zackery; son, Shawn; sisters, Nancy Welsh and Judy Klyne; brother-in-law, Barrie Michael (Carol); and sister-in-law, Lynne Jones (Jerry).
Patty grew up in Calgary, AB and was a lover of the outdoors. She was an active snow skier, water skier, hiker, canoeist and camper. She trained to be a ski patroller and patrolled COP in Calgary and later Lake Louise ski areas. She loved to share all those activities with her husband, children, family and friends.
Patty worked as an office administrator for much of her career and volunteered for any causes in which she was remotely involved. She worked several years as the President of the Hawkwood Community Association in Calgary until her retirement to become a snowbird in an RV for 10 years, meeting many more friends along the way.
Patty spent the last 3 years of her life in a care home due to her immobility from Polymyositis. Even though she had to wear a mask to assist her breathing, you could still see her eyes twinkle if she were sharing a joke with you or about you. She enjoyed Laird’s travels because she got to go electronically to visit friends and relatives. Patty was a remarkable woman whose life touched many.
A Celebration of Patty’s Life will take place in Edmonton, Ab in mid June. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
So sorry to hear of Patty’s passing. She was so full of life and always positive. We had many good times with Patty and Laird. Condolences to the family.
Our deepest sympathy to you Laird and your family. Patty was a beautiful person inside and out. My heart goes out to her that she had to endure such tough health issues. Thinking of you.
Will always remember Patty and our days together in NK’Mip. Our happy times, especially celebrating our Birthdays. She was indeed a remarkable lady. She struggled admirably with her affliction. Rest in peace dear lady.
Thinking of you Laird and sending the love to you and your family.
Don and Maureen Robertson
We are so sorry for your loss Laird, and to your family as well.
Patty was such an amazing person. Even through all her years as her body slowly became weaker, she always had that twinkle in her eye, and her sense of humour.
She was such a wonderful friend and made friends so easily with her kind nature and sense of humour.
She will be missed by so many, but never forgotten.
Rest in peace our very dear and precious friend.
We are saddened to hear of Patty’s passing and very sorry for your family’s loss. What a beautiful person who remained positive despite years of incredibly challenging health issues. Rest in peace, cousin Patty.
Laird, Ken and Shawn, we are so sorry for your loss
We will always remember our happy times together camping in Loon Lake… on the boat, on the beach, fishing, the campfires…and Patty’s happy smile and laugh
Those we love are never really gone – they will live on forever in our memories
With deepest sympathy and caring

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
This is so difficult for all family members.
I know what you are going through and hope you will be at peace with it in time. ,
I always looked up to Auntie Patty for her remarkable planning skills, her parties, her long marriage, and how well she raised her boys. She didn’t have it easy, by any stretch of the imagination, and yet she bore life with grace under pressure, a great sense of humor, and a perpetual twinkle in her sparkly, beautiful, blue eyes. The world is a little less bright without her in it, and I’m so sorry you’ve lost your best friend, head cheerleader, and greatest supporter, Uncle Laird, Ken, Shawn, Leslie, Nona, Domino, and Zackary.
