Lorena Amanda Medcalf

Lorena Amanda Medcalf passed away peacefully in Moose Jaw, SK on Sunday, September 30th, 2012 at the age of 89 years.  She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Darla (Dennis) Brown of Moose Jaw, SK and Janet (Greg) Donnelly of St. Albert, AB; four granddaughters: Tamara (Mark) of Winnipeg, MB, Kara (Jock) of Townsville, Australia, Adrienne and Kayla of Edmonton, AB; and four dear great-grandchildren: Emerson and Dylann, Eva and Liam.  Lorena is survived by her sister, Helen Dillon of Moose Jaw, SK; sisters-in-law, Fran Jardine of Moose Jaw, SK and Ellen Gardner of Hanna, AB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, Martha and Norman Jardine; her beloved husband, Jack; as well as her sister, Norma Quigley and brother, Fred Jardine.  Lorena was born in Tugaske, SK on August 23rd, 1923.  She spent 75 years of her life in Tugaske, where she grew up and attended school.  In 1948, she married Jack and together they raised their two girls.  Lorena and Jack warmly welcomed family and friends to their home in Tugaske for 43 years, where they farmed together for their entire married life.  When they weren’t working, Lorena and Jack enjoyed travelling and contributing to church and community events together.  Lorena also took great pleasure in quilting with her close friends.  Lorena moved to Moose Jaw in 1997 where she continued to enjoy her life, helping others and visiting with family and friends.  At Lorena’s request, a Graveside Memorial will be held at the Tugaske Cemetery on Saturday, October 6th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Rick McCorrister officiating.  All wishing to attend are welcome.  Following the interment, a lunch will be served at the Tugaske Community Center.  In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make memorial donations in Lorena’s name to a charity of their choice.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director. 693-4550.
