John Roderick Doyle McMorris
John Roderick Doyle McMorris, born April 13th, 1951, sadly passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, after having lived with cancer for 15 years. John was one of a kind and during his 73 years, he lived a full life, and he lived it his way.
John grew up on the family farm six miles north of Lewvan, SK. He became an avid sports enthusiast, both in participating and observing. If you asked him what he did for a living he would say he was a farmer, which he was, but he also wore a few different hats. John managed several grain elevators in Saskatchewan, then moved on to designing and installing grain dryers in Saskatchewan, Mexico, and Ukraine for Grainhandler USA. He then began helping design, build, and commission concrete grain terminals in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Kazakhstan for F.W.S Construction.
He was predeceased by his father, Gordon; mother, Thelma; sister, Lorna; and brother-in-law, Laurie; as well as Eleanor, the mother of his children. John is survived by his sister, Joanne (Allan); brother, Don (Cindy); daughter, Noelle; son, Doyle (Connie); stepsons: Todd (Ann) Walz, Ryan (Amanda) Walz, and Jason (Alana) Walz; grandchildren: Bhody (Marissa), Trehvan, Rhyker, Haley (Justin), Bria, Nico, Jude, Gracie, and Xavier; great-grandchildren, Graham and Ledger; and by Lee, his wife of 20 years, his best friend, and the love of his life.
Even in the end, John did it his way and we would like to thank the MAID program for the care and support they provided to him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Apostolic Church, 1550 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK. As an expression of sympathy, donations in John’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Our deepest condolences to Lee and all the family. John was an energetic fellow Lewvanite from childhood and enjoyed many years of playing hockey with him as an adult. May happy memories keep him with you always.
To Lee and all John’s Family,
We are saddened to hear that John lost his battle with cancer. He fought a long, hard fight for 14yrs to stay with you, his family and friends. We have so many good and fun memories of all the McMorris family and always considered John a dear friend. It has been hard on you all, over the years and even harder to say goodbye but he is at rest. Lee ,you were his special angel – hugs to you and all the family. Joan & Grant

I knew John more years than I would like to admit and always respected his knowledge and commitment to the grain industry. his commitment to the farm was well known by all who knew him. I hope that Lee, Noelle and the rest of his family can find some solace in the fact that he is now at peace. My condolences to all of his extended family.
RIP old friend
Lee, Doyle & Connie. Don & Cindy, and families, my sincere condolences on your loss. I got to know John through Elks curling and know that he had many friends who will miss him. He was a hard worker but also enjoyed having fun. There will be many memories to hold on to, especially during these difficult days ahead. Thinking of you with sincerest sympathy.
Lee, Doyle, Noelle and all the remaining family.
I am so sorry for your loss. Always enjoyed anytime we spent with John. We were happy that Gerry and I both got to visit with John and Doyle at Walmart before Gerry passed away and Paul moved away.
Please know we are thinking of you and sending you love, hugs and prayers.
Cheryl, Becky and family, and Paul and family
Thinking of you all, sending sincere condolences
I’m so sorry to hear of John’s passing and sending heartfelt sympathy to you. My brothers Mike and Gary had so much respect for John and valued the friendship they made when John worked with them at Grain Handler. John will be sorely missed and remembered with great fondness. We keep you, Lee, and all of his family in our prayers.
Joanne, Don and extended McMorris families
My recollections of John are many and filled with vivid childhood memories from our
Lewvan years…as the older brother of my dearest chum Joanne, of course he was a
great tease and often a ‘pain’ ferreting out our clubhouses or tipping us off our tubes
and paddle boards at the lake. I value those carefree years and extend my most sincere
wishes also to Lee, John’s children, grand and great grandchildren; cherish his memory and
that you had John in your lives for his time and that he is now free of pain and at rest.
God Bless
To Joanne, Don and families
Further to my earlier personal memory of John, I would add sincere condolences
from my mother, Irene; sister Louise (John’s classmate) and younger brothers,
Dennis and Mark. For each McMorris child growing up in Lewvan, there was an
O’Byrne of similar age and grade…our parents and families helped form the
backbone of Lewvan life from the fifties through the eighties and those wonderful
memories will ever live on….. in our hearts; the John O’Byrne family
My condolences to all of Johns family and friends. His passing leaves very large hole my childhood memories and his love of farming was an inspiration.
