Glen Alan McLean
Glen Alan McLean of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19th, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Formerly of Riverhurst, Saskatchewan, Glen has lived at Crescent Park Retirement Villa for the past 2 years. Glen was born on July 24th, 1920. He received his schooling at Emsdale School and Oceola School. Glen farmed for most of his life in the Gilroy District. He married Gladys Olson on July 24th, 1969. They resided at the farm until June of 1996, when they retired and moved to Riverhurst. Glen and Gladys enjoyed their years together. They were both excellent dancers and loved their music. Glen was a master at telling stories. He could tell “true stories” about many of the early settlers, and always had a good receptive audience. He was a very personable, witty, fun loving and kind man. Glen could always light up a room with his (true stories) jokes! He was predeceased by his parents Pete and Emma McLean; his wife Gladys in February of 2001; his sister Bernice and brother-in-law Roy McKenzie; his brothers Everett of Gilroy, Doug of Riverhurst and Howard of Moose Jaw. Glen is survived by his sister Kathleen Burton of Bowmanville, Ontario; step-daughters Jean (Boyd) Stoney of Riverhurst, Roberta Zanatta of New Westminster, B.C., and Patricia Olson of Medicine Hat, AB; stepson Bob Hamilton of Ontario; numerous grandchildren in Saskatchewan and B.C.; many nieces and nephews in Saskatchewan, Ontario, Alberta and B.C.; sister-in-law Dorothy McLean; brothers-in-law Alfred Olson of Medicine Hat, AB. and Murray McKay of Central Butte, Sask. Family and friends are invited to a Come and Go Tea to celebrate Memories of Glen’s Life, on Monday, May 25th, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Sage View Golf Course, Tournament Room at Palliser Park. For those so wishing, memorial donations in Glen’s name may be made to Central Butte and District Health Care Foundation for Regency Manor, Box 582, Central Butte, SK., S0H 0T0.
