M. Lillian McLafferty
M. Lillian McLafferty, aged 95 years of Moose Jaw, SK., passed away October 19th, 2010. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Church Of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St., Moose Jaw, SK. Father Carlos Jimenez will be the presiding celebrant and burial of cremains will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Lil was born on a farm south of Morse on June 11th, 1915 and the family lived in the area throughout her growing years. In 1941 she married Jack McLafferty at Chaplin, and then resided in Boharm and subsequently in Moose Jaw until her passing. Lil was a past pres. of the CWL, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the CPR, and really enjoyed her time with Toastmasters. Her entrepreneurial talents shone through as she owned and ran Mac’s Confectionary on the east side of Moose Jaw from 1953 until 1962. Lil was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2007, by her father Robert in 1950, her mother Martha in 1980, her sister Eoulyia in 1971, and brothers Don in 1995 and Slim in 2004, as well as her son-in-law George M.C. Whyte in 2000. She is survived by her devoted daughter Judi Whyte (West Vancouver) and her children: Robbi-Layne Robertson (West Vancouver), Wade (Paula) Robertson and great grandsons Cody and Dane (Chilliwack), her son John(MaryAnne) McLafferty (Moose Jaw) and granddaughters Kama (Randall Sailor) Harkness and great granddaughters Kelsey & Kathryn (Lethbridge), Taryn (Trevor) McLafferty-Dzioba and great grandchildren Rayne, Stone and Jake (Tofield, AB.). Her brother Bert (Bea) as well as many nieces and nephews being especially close with the Samson clan, Monty (Marlynne), Pat (John), and Barry.
