Dorothy May McKechnie
Dorothy May McKechnie (Hall) of Moose Jaw passed away Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 at Providence Place at the age of 85 years. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 9th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Hasmatali will officiate. Dorothy was born in Crane Valley, Saskatchewan on July 31st, 1926 and lived on the family farm with her parents, Mary and William (Tom), and four siblings. Dorothy completed her education at Normal School and began her teaching career at Dannybrook School prior to marrying Stanley, the love of her life. On May 26th, 1947 she gave birth to a beautiful daughter Diane, the first of twelve children, (nine boys and three girls). Dorothy’s loves were her family, friends and the church. Dorothy was a member of the Westmount Baptist Church since the family moved to Moose Jaw in 1959. Dorothy loved outdoor activities, swimming, music, dancing and playing cards and games with family and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Stanley (1962); two sons, Harvey (1976) and Leonard (1977); daughter, Diane (2010); three brothers: Ronald, Earl and Jim; sister, Ruth and special friend, Ed Edwards. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by sons and daughters: Kenneth (Linda), Terry (Denise), Earl(Judy), Barbara Fysh (Gregory), Vern (Elaine), David (Connie), Dale, Stephen (Norma) and Brenda Light (John); son-in-law, Bill Klemmer; daughter-in-law, Leona; forty-two grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and numerous family relatives. Dorothy was a very special lady and left a lasting impression with everyone she had encountered in her journey of life.
