Doug McKay
It is with great sadness that we announce Doug’s passing on Monday, September 7th, 2009 at the age of 46 years. Doug’s courageous battle with cancer came to a peaceful finale with his family by his side. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 12th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate. Doug was born in Herbert on November 7, 1962. He grew up on the family farm at Chaplin where he developed his passion for farming. After graduating from high school, he worked for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool for 27 years. His job moved him and his family several times enabling him to form many friendships across the province. Doug spent countless hours at the rink coaching his 2 sons’ hockey teams and watching his daughter figure skate. He was so proud of all their accomplishments as well as those of their team mates. In the last 2 years, Doug was able to fulfill his dream of farming. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, of 24 years, Gaye; his children Dustin (Sara), Lucas and Kasey; parents Bob and Maria McKay; sisters Debbie Briere (Greg) and Robin Ganshorn (Derrick); brother Rick McKay (Jeannine); father and mother-in-law Edgar and Olive Dalgarno; brother-in-law Kim Dalgarno (Leanne); sister-in-law Tammy Keane (Mike); and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
