George McGillis
Sadly, George McGillis passed away at Regina Pasqua Hospital on Saturday, June 18th, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents, Geordie and Alphie (Lacerte); brothers: Raoul, Robert, Edward, and Henry; sisters: Vivian, Anita, Emerance, Anette, and Jackie; sisters-in-law: Beverly, Madeline, and Anita; and brother-in-law, Tom Wereschuk. George is survived by his wife, Holly; sons: Greg, Jessie, and Alex; daughters: Amanda, Ashley, and Lora Nancarrow (John); and grandchildren: Jane, Alexis, Ava, Taylor, Max, Kelly, Cody, Kingston, Joseph, and Nicholas. George also leaves to mourn, sisters, Rosealma and Doreen; brothers: Andy, Leonard, and Danny; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. George loved his family and often had nicknames for them. He was born in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan on January 12th, 1957 and was the youngest of fifteen children. George grew up on the Metis Coop Ranch in Willow Bunch. At an earlier age George loved to travel and visit his huge family including brothers, sisters, cousins and friends. George and Holly were married for 33 years and lived most of their married life in Moose Jaw, SK. George and Holly loved camping, fishing and getting together with family. He would on the spur of the moment say to his love Holly, let’s go fishing. They would load up the kids and head out to wherever their destination was, even it was 4:00 a.m. George loved music and learned to play guitar at an early age. Music was important to him, and he loved to play the part and sing like Elvis. George’s love for music was shared with many family members who have fond memories of jamming with him. He worked at a variety of jobs in many cities, eventually working for twenty five years and retiring at SPMC in Moose Jaw. George and Holly moved to Assiniboia, SK to be close to family and his homeland when they both retired. George’s love for life and his ability to make people laugh will be forever missed by all who knew him. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Seaborg officiating.
