GLEN WILLIAM MCDOWELL
September 12th, 1962 to February 21st, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Glen McDowell announces Glen’s passing on Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 at the age of 55 years. Glen grew up on the family farm in the Grayburn area, where many happy hours were spent playing with his brother and sister, and travelling the well-worn bike loop between his farm and cousin’s Wayne and Gary next door. Glen’s first year of school began in a one room school house at Grayburn, SK before moving to Caronport Elementary and graduating from Caronport High School in 1980. Glen explored many career opportunities, working at Evan’s Florist and Moose Jaw Coop while still in high school, and moving on to pursue opportunities in Regina, before Glen’s health prevented him from further aspirations. Wherever Glen worked, he was a welcome presence, where his friendly demeanor and big heart made him many friends both on staff and with customers. Glen had a special interest in employment standards and served as a union representative, as well as attending The Labour College of Canada in Ottawa in 1988. Glen will be remembered for his efforts to continually connect with family and friends, offering encouragement and friendship through phone calls and visits. He was a gifted gardener, and played the piano and guitar. Glen had special times with Darwin at the Rosso farm and trips to Agribition, and enjoyed all aspects of his involvement in the cattle ranch. Glen was predeceased by his father, Keith McDowell in 1975, and is survived by his partner and best friend of 27 years, Darwin Rosso; mother, Muriel; brother, Dale (Janet); sister, Dianne (Garth) Purdy; 2 nieces, Nicole (Everett) and Miranda (Chris); 2 nephews, Dallas and Mike (Calla); as well as 3 great-nieces. The family would also like to thank Glen’s caregivers for their superior care and support over this challenging time, in particular Dr. Thorpe, Dr. Ramadan, Glen’s home care staff, and the nursing staff at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital. A Celebration of Glen’s life will be held on Thursday, March 1st, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Gray officiating. You are invited to further share this day with family and friends in a time of fellowship in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home following the funeral service. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Glen may be made to Kinsmen Telemiracle, 2217C Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK S7L 6A8. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
