Steven Duane McDougall
It is with profound sadness that the family of Steven Duane McDougall announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023 at the Assiniboia Union Hospital, with his wife by his side. Steven was born on July 5th, 1961 to Joan and Duane McDougall. He started a lengthy career at the Moose Jaw Co-op on October 6th, 1979 and retired 39 years to the day he started on October 6th, 2018. It was while working at Co-op that Steven met the love of his life, Jean, and they were married on February 9th, 1997. His hobbies were many and included watching his favourite NHL team, the Chicago Blackhawks, attending Warrior games, going to watch baseball at Memorial Field, playing volleyball and baseball, bowling, model railroad, and the many games of Hearts with his dad, brothers, and nephews. Steve had a wonderful sense of humour that will always be remembered, especially by his former co-workers, because as he always said “I like soup” or the many discussions about “dirty eggs” that he had with his good friend Brian Yamniuk.
He was predeceased by his mother, Joan; and his nephew, Coady Hayden. Steven is survived by his loving wife, Jean (née: Ingleby); step-daughters, Sarah and Fiona Cahill; father, Duane; sisters, Colleen (Terry) Hayden and Shelann Keelan; brothers: Ron (James Allan), Kevin (Jeanine), Darryl, Curtis (Nicole), and Corey; his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; as well as many friends, including his wonderful friend Pauline Yamniuk.
The family would like to thank the Moose Jaw EMS, Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital Emergency Department, the Regina General Hospital Neurosciences Unit, and the Assiniboia Union Hospital for the exceptional care and support the Steven and his family received.
A Celebration of Steven’s Life will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. at the Eagles Hall, 561 Home St, W, Moose Jaw, SK. Please come and share your memories of Steven. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steven’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, 1755 Stadacona St W, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7 of SCRAPS Moose Jaw, PO Box 1653 Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.
