John (Dick) McDonnell
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John (Dick) McDonnell on Friday May 17, 2019 at the age of 85. Dick was born December 6,1933 in Bowsman, Manitoba to parents Clarence and Edith McDonnell (nee Baldry). He is predeceased by his parents Clarence and Edith, brothers, Hugh and Mel and special friend Ken Pottruff. Dick is survived by his wife, Debbie; children, Joan Paquin, Kelly, Bill, Robbie (Lynne), Larry, Pat (Theresa Ballagh), and Ashley (Steven) Hancock; grandchildren, Curtis, Alynne, Dina, Noelle, Diane, Danielle, Becca, Christopher, Raylene, Olivia, Jade, Fisher and Aspen; great-grandchildren, Michael, Zak, Jasmyn, Chase, Addison, Oliver, Emma, Mia and Wyatt; and siblings, Ray, Bob (Lynn), Terry (Marian), Barb (Glen) Bellegarde, and Gerald (Margaret); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. After spending much of his life working on the Pottruff farm at Lake Valley, Dick gained a “bonus family” who he treasured dearly; Fran, Rob (Charlene), Lance (Candi), Chad, Keith, Craig, Staci and Justin. He enjoyed life to the fullest and treasured the many laughs and good times he had. Some of his greatest passions were spending time at the farm, fishing at Wadin Bay with his “brudder” Mel, or walking countless miles with his faithful companion Tigger. His kindness, sense of humor and friendly smile will live forever in our hearts and we will never forget the wonderful times that we shared with him. In keeping with Dick’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Pottruff farm on June 1st, 2019, at 1:00 PM. Dick’s family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff at both Extendicare and Pioneer Lodge for their love and caring in the last few months of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society Box 1658 Station Main. Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
