McCARRON, Marjorie Edith
McCARRON, Marjorie Edith (née Mitchell), aged 87 years, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Marj was born September 20th, 1923 in Pennant, SK. She married Patrick McCarron in 1943. They lived in various locations throughout southwest SK before moving to Moose Jaw with her family in 1965. Marj is predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Patrick; her parents, John and Gertrude Mitchell; a brother in infancy; her brother, Lawrence; her sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and John Sharrock; and her special friend and companion of 27 years, Niels Kristoffersen. Marj is survived by her sons, Victor (Shirley) and Dan (Linda); her grandchildren, Don (Maureen), Audrey (Glenn), Michelle (Eric), and Marc; and her great-grandchildren, Brennan, Kelsey, Tamara, Breanne, Nicole, Renee and Jonathan. She is also survived by her brother, Cal (Joyce); her sisters, Vivian and Ruth (Larry); sister-in-law, Irene; numerous nieces and nephews, and her good friend and niece, Dorothy (Barry). Gardening, cooking, and baking were Marj’s favorite pastimes. Her ginger cookies were loved by the family and to this day are referred to by some family members as “Nana’s cookies.” Family was very important to Marj and she was at her happiest entertaining them. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pat, Marj, Vic, and Dan enjoyed camping and fishing, spending many weekends over the years at Lac Pelltier. Marj also loved to travel. She and Niels made three trips to Denmark as well as to numerous destinations within North America. Marj was also a long-time member of the CWL. The family would like to extend special thanks to Carol Fuhr for the compassionate care she provided to Marj in her last weeks. A Funeral Mass celebrating Marj’s life will be held on Saturday, November 27th, 2010 at 11:00 am in Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughn Street, Moose Jaw, SK. Father Carlos Jimenez will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place in Swift Current, SK. at a later date. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, November 26th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marj’s memory to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, 350 Michael Cowpland Drive, Kanata, ON. K2M 2W1.
