Jean L. Mathieson (née Maxwell)

Jean L. Mathieson (née Maxwell), aged 91 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Friday, September 1st, 2017 at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.  Jean was born on March 18th, 1926 at Stoney Beach, Saskatchewan, the youngest in a family of eight.  She was raised on a farm near Stoney Beach, went to Fairville School and later travelled to Ottawa, ON to finish her schooling while living with two older sisters.  Jean returned to Moose Jaw where she met her husband Hugh Mathieson, but worked in Calgary, AB for one year before they were married.  They farmed at Tuxford, SK for many years where Jean was active in many community events.  She loved curling, took up golf, and was an active member of the Royal Purple.  Jean will be loving remembered by her daughter, Gail (David); son, Rod; grandchildren: Steven, Dean, Brian, Shauna, and Kyle; and great-grandchildren: Vivian, Kai, Wyatt, Everett, and Emmett.  In keeping with Jean’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
