Mom worked for short periods of time as an R.N. in Northern Ontario and Winnipeg before the call of the prairies brought the young small town Saskatchewan girl home to a rewarding career as a Public Health Nurse for 25 years. It is when she made this life change that she met and married the love of her life, and settled in Ernfold, Sk. and raised her family. “Nurse Ethel” as mom was often referred to, was a very caring and compassionate women, as she was often called out at all times of the day and night to help neighbors and friends. After mom and dad retired, they left Ernfold for Palliser Park , where mom enjoyed boating, fishing, and the other love of her life, golfing. Often you could find mom yelling at the “Riders” on TV as she was a huge fan. Mom also enjoyed to travel, she toured a lot of Canada with her husband and family as well as trips to Disneyland and Hawaii. Mom enjoyed entertaining, friends and neighbors were always welcome in her home for coffee or socializing. Family always came first for mom as she was often called on to baby-sit or help out, something she never refused. After her husband’s death, she purchased a home and moved to Central Butte , where she resided until poor health landed her in a personal care home in January 2007. In Lieu of flowers, we the family would appreciate donations to Iver Main Place, Box 550, Central Butte, Sk., S0H 0T0 or the charity of one’s choice in mom’s name.
