Jean Louis Marcil
On November 4th, 2011, Jean Louis Marcil passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Providence Place at the age of 88. Louis was predeceased by his father Joseph; mother Jeanine; brothers Richard and Jacques; and daughter in law Karen. Louis is survived by his devoted wife Virginia to whom he was married for 57 years; sons Harvey (Linda), Louis Jr.; daughter Candace(Bill) Stoner; grandchildren Christopher and Matthew Stoner; sisters Elaine Morrison (Clark) and Pauline Gaucher (Oliver); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Louis was born on November 17th, 1922 in Courval, Sask. Louis was always looking for a challenge in life as was evident by the number of different endeavors he was involved in. These included becoming a flight instructor, working at a saw mill, starting his own lumberyard, working with his brother Richard in road construction, building homes in Moose Jaw with his friend Bill Rogers and selling agricultural equipment; but his greatest passion was farming. He was also Secretary Treasurer of St. Charles School, member of R.C.A.F. 601 Wing and Royal Canadian Legion. Later in life he enjoyed travelling with his family. An evening Prayer Service will be held on Friday, November 11th, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.W. Father Rick Krofchek will be the Presiding Celebrant and a private interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Legion Rites will be conducted by Marty Martel of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #59.
