Gilberte “Gil” Gertrude Marceau
Gilberte “Gil” Gertrude Marceau, aged 102 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 at Extendicare Nursing Home. Gil was born March 2nd, 1914 in St. Lazar, PQ and was the 13th of 14 children. At the age of 3, her family moved to Durlingville, AB where she received her education. In 1933, she married Homer Marceau. They resided on a homestead near Fort Kent, AB where they raised their 2 daughters, Joanne and Vivian, until they moved to Moose Jaw, SK in 1940 where Homer was employed with the CP Rail. Gil enjoyed the city life where she later became a saleswoman for Beauty Counsellor products for 50 years. Gil was a long-time CWL member of St. Joseph’s Parish. She enjoyed her garden, traveling and spending time with family. She was predeceased by her husband, Homer; daughter, Joanne; sons-in-law, Ken and Vaughn; as well as 2 brothers and 11 sisters. Gil is survived by her daughter, Vivian; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 10th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK. Father Rick Krofchek will be the presiding celebrant and interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gil’s name may be made to the St. Joseph’s Social Justice Committee, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 3T9.
