Freda Maloney
The peaceful passing of Freda Maloney was on July 15th, 2009 at Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. Freda was born to William and Karoline Heimlick on October 22nd, 1926 on the Heimlick family farm near Big Beaver Saskatchewan. Freda married Gerald Fister November 15th, 1946 in Scobey Montana. They resided on a farm near Big Beaver until the time they retired to Moose Jaw in February 1974. Together they enjoyed their retirement until the passing of Gerald in November 1977. Freda married Martin Maloney in December 1984 and they remained in her Moose Jaw home, until the passing of Martin in May 1993. Freda was an avid homemaker, mother and caregiver. She worked at McDonalds as a greeter for two years after moving to Moose Jaw. For over 20 years she volunteered at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital taking treats and the current news to staff and patients. She loved visits with her family and friends. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing and baking. Freda is survived by Carol (Bob) Brenner of Parkbeg, Saskatchewan, Trudy (Lawrence) Ion of Brooks, Alberta and Malinda (Roger) Youngchief of Millet, Alberta; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Freda is preceded by her spouses Gerald Fister and Martin Maloney, parents William and Karoline Heimlick, sisters Rosie (Tom) Benjamin, Ella (Eric) Scholtz, brothers Henry and Herbert (Eva) Heimlick. A service will be held at Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane, on Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 at 11:00 am. A burial service to follow will be at the Bengough Cemetery at 3:00 pm. Officiating the service will be Fred Salerno, viewing will be held on Monday July 20th, 2009 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Our gratitude and appreciation goes to those at Pioneer Lodge who gave such loving care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made on Freda’s behalf to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation or Pioneer Lodge.
