Edward James Main
July 19, 1922 – May 4, 2009
Passed away peacefully May 4th, 2009 at Dinsmore Health Care Centre at the age of 86 years. Ed is survived by his loving wife Doris, his stepson Doug (Gloria) Johnson, sons Jim (Judy), Dale(Fluerette), Lon (Sylvia), daughter Marnie (Bob Sadler)and special neighbour Janice (Dan) Lafrance. Ed was predeceased by two sons, baby Gerry in 1954 and Ross in March 2009.
Ed was born and raised in Grainland district in a large family. He spent time in Fort William, Moose Jaw, New Westminister, Kitimat, and Dawson City before settling in Central Butte in 1954. Ed was a lineman with Saskatchewan Power for over 30 years. After retirement he worked for a few more years for George Beattie Construction, until he decided to spend more time in his shop and garden. Ed spent many hours tending his garden and tinkering in his shop plus found time for hunting and fishing. Ed was an active member of Boy Scouts, Minor Hockey and a founding member of the Central Butte Fish and Game League. Ed loved his children, grand children and great grand children and greatly enjoyed telling everyone tales of life experiences.
Ed will be sadly missed and remembered by all that shared in his life. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Tea in memory of Ed on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Central Butte Senior’s Centre in Central Butte, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ed’s memory to the Dinsmore Health Care Foundation, Box 278, Dinsmore SK, S0L 0T0.
