Doris Edith Main
February 6, 1925 – November 28, 2009
Doris passed away peacefully November 28th, 2009 at Dinsmore Health Care Centre. She will be sadly missed by us all, but joins her loving husband Ed and son Ross who left us earlier this year and baby Gerry in 1954. Remaining, to celebrate her life, are her sons Doug (Gloria) Johnson of Moose Jaw, Jim (Judy) Main of Dinsmore, Dale Main of Saskatoon, Lon (Sylvia) Main of Creston BC; daughter Marnie Main (Bob Sadler) of Edmonton, AB; special friend Jan (Dan) LaFrance of Central Butte; brother Keith Turner (Jane McDonald) of Alliston, ON; and the extended Turner families across the country.
Doris was born in Moose Jaw to parents George and Ella Turner (nee Brown), raised on the family farm south of Marquis and attended Westview School. She and Ed settled in Central Butte in 1954, raising the Main kids to adulthood without giving in to the many temptations to sell them (thanks mom & dad). The close community of Central Butte was their cherished home until they moved to Dinsmore in 2007, where they were warmly welcomed and spent their final years making new friends and being lovingly cared for.
Doris loved to visit, and her door was always open. She loved her grandchildren (10), great-grandchildren (10), and their photos covered her walls, calendars and fridge doors. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all that shared her life. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 5th, 2009 at 1:00 pm in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doris’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 917A Albert St., Regina, Sask. S4R 2P6 (www.diabetes.ca).
