MAIER, Grant Gerald
January 7th, 1947 – September 4th, 2014
Grant passed away at the Regina General Hospital on September 4th, 2014. Born on the farm in Bayard, Saskatchewan on January 7th, 1947, he was the second son born to Jacob and Eileen. He grew up on the farm until such time the family moved into Moose Jaw in 1956. As an active member of the Church of Our Lady, he spent countless hours setting up mass/funerals, being a bingo announcer and organizer along with working functions in the church hall. The Knights of Columbus was very important making him active in their roles, responsibilities and activities. Grant is survived by his immediate family: Marvin Maier and Debbie Lougheed of Moose Jaw, SK; Jacqueline and Dennis Kolesar of Calgary, AB; Rod, Deb (Swaine), Clinton and Cassidy Maier of Moose Jaw, SK; and Tania Haberlack-Dolan, Justin Dolan and Cole Haberlack of Okotoks, AB. He has left us to visit those already gone – his mom and dad Jacob and Eileen Maier, his grandparents and other family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 11th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Father Jake Ibay officiating. Interment will take place at Bayard Cemetery at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Grant’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
