Doreen MacLachlan
The family of Doreen MacLachlan, née Francis, announces her peaceful passing, with family by her side on 21 April 2020. Doreen was the youngest daughter of six children, to the late William and Mabel Francis; born 29 December 1934. Raised on the Francis farm north of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan along with siblings Jean, Betty, Gordon, Shirley, Harold and Donald. Doreen and Clare MacLachlan were married on 25 June 1960 and their two sons Perry and Keith soon followed. The new family settles on the MacLachlan farm south of Eyebrow, Saskatchewan. After the untimely loss of Clare on 10 May 1985, Doreen courageously carries on the family farm with the MacLachlan family. Welcoming Perry and Maxine’s daughters, Jamie and Meagan; Doreen was enthralled as a grandmother. When tragedy struck with the unfortunate loss of Perry, Doreen once again headed the farm and was a strong presence for her grieving family. Continuing her and Clare’s love of Arabian horses, passing down her wealth of knowledge to her granddaughters, participating in horse shows and trail rides with her Miniature Horses was a passion. In her aging, Doreen moved from the farm to Waldeck, Saskatchewan with her son Keith. To be closer to granddaughter Jamie and her great-grandchildren Daynan and Elayna; where she soon found her place again as an adoring grandmother. Soon Meagan and Scott welcomed their two boys, Ethan and Ryan who travelled from Dilke, Saskatchewan often to visit. Meagan, Jamie and Keith were supportive by Doreen’s side when she needed them the most, transitioning her life into the care of the Providence Place in Moose Jaw after her scare of a stroke. Doreen was very appreciative to the nursing staff who with dignity made her comfortable for her last few months. The immediate family will attend her burial in the Eyebrow cemetery alongside Clare and will be hosting a memorial celebration of Doreen’s life at a later date to be announced. Doreen will be affectionately missed by her surviving brothers Harold and Donald; countless cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.

So sorry to hear of Doreen’s passing. Many great memories of Doreen from her days at Central Butte Regency Manor. I remember when she had her heart surgery and got the pigs values put in. Also many great memories of her and her granddaughters at horse shows She always had time for a visit to catch up on news from Central Butte.
Doreen one of a kind, I have alot of memories of Doreen and Clare , lets see from a little girl going to the farm with my mom and dad I liked the visit but I hated those dam geese they always chased me. My mom and Doreen were cousins to the horse shows for the love of horses we shared, I whore Doreen ‘s costumes in the fairs and Parades , till mom made mine, I had my first trip to the hospital when that (Bugger) horse kicked my horse I thought Doreen was going to kill that horse , few stitches in my ear and back up on the horse, years later my Daughter spent time with Doreen and her Granddaughters at the farm with the horses and mini’s , we my Daughter got thrown off Doreen’s horse with the Granddaughter and broke her arm really bad. so lots of time spent with the family to one ofthe boys putting his arm threw the ringer washing machine. rest in peace Doreen I hope there is a horse up there for you …
My sincere condolences to Keith, Jamie & Meagan and families: I remember the many good times we had with Doreen at the farm. Maureen and I reminisced about getting the sealers of cream!!! A very special memory, still wish I could get that cream! We would just take the sealer, go to the room at the barn, fill it with cream and leave the money on the cupboard. Such special times!!!
Currie and I send our sincere condolences to Keith, Jamie, Meagan and families. Being a close neighbour to Doreen and family we always enjoyed our visits with Doreen. I will always remember the day I went over to see Doreen and get some sealers of the delicious thick cream that we often bought from her. A new miniature colt had just been born, she picked it up and handed it to me and said here hold it! It was wonderful moment, I couldn’t believe I was holding a horse in my arms! Doreen was a special lady and she will be greatly missed.
