Eugene Charles Lumley
Eugene Charles Lumley, aged 92 years of Riverhurst, Sask., passed away on Tuesday, May 1 st, 2007 at the Central Butte Regency Hospital. A Family Graveside was held in the Riverhurst Cemetery. Born in the Riverhurst district, Eugene farmed for a few years in the Gilroy district, and owned a café in Riverhurst in the early 1950’s. He then worked for the C.N.R. for 27 years in the Lawson/Riverhurst area. Eugene was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion at Riverhurst and later Glen Kerr Legion. He served overseas with the Royal Dragoons in Holland, Italy and France. Eugene ‘s hobbies were gardening, woodworking, fishing and playing cards. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Lettie; brothers Warren, Frank, Hugh, Lester and William. Eugene is survived by is wife of 64 years Irene; daughter Daphne (Jake) Penner and their children Marilyn and Mike; son Alec (Bev) Lumley of Salt Spring Island, BC and their children Melaine, Michelle and Steven; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters Myrtle and Rhea; and sister-in-laws Doreen and Marg.
