JULIA ESTHER LUDKE
It is with sadness we wish to announce the passing of our mother, Julia Ludke (née Goodnough). Julia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 with family by her side. Julia was born on February 5th, 1924 at Ettington, SK to Arthur and Elsie Goodnough (née Waudby). Julia was raised on the farm at Expanse and graduated from Expanse School. She then completed Normal School in Moose Jaw and went on to teach at Aldenberg School. While teaching there she met Ed Ludke and they married on September 30th, 1944. Julia and Ed moved to Expanse where they farmed and raised five children. They attended the Lutheran Church in Mossbank and later in Moose Jaw. Julia was involved in many community activities but the things that really gave her greatest joy were her family and her garden. We all have many fond memories of the farm and Daisy Crescent. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Ed in 2004; her parents; step-mother, Katherine (née Letkeman); and siblings: Ronald, Floyd, Muriel, Vera, Edward, and Robert. Julia is survived by her children: Doreen Lewry (Phil) of Parksville, BC, Gordon (Lila) of Parksville, BC, Edith Gibbings (Neil) of Swift Current, SK, Leonard (Mona) of Moose Jaw, SK, and Ronald (Sheryl) of Sherwood Park, AB; six siblings: Dennis, Ted, Gale, Richard, Linda, and Stanley; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. A special thank you is extended to Mom’s many caregivers over the past several years. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julia’s name may be made to LAMP (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots), 4966 – 92nd Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6B 2V4. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Calvin Gammel, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
