William (Bill) Luciak
William (Bill) Luciak passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 at his residence at Orange Tree Village in Regina, SK at the age of 78 years. Bill was born in the Hodgeville area on March 15th, 1939 and he received his education at the Edinburgh School. In 1957, at the age of 18, he and his brother Ed moved to Moose Jaw and with the assistance of their father, purchased a small convenience store on the 300 block of Caribou Street West and named it Brother’s Confectionery. On July 14th, 1962 Bill married Eleanor Kopeck. Together, they operated Brothers Confectionery until June of 2000 when Eleanor passed away. Bill continued to operate the neighbourhood store until March 2014, at which time he closed the business after 57 years of service. Bill enjoyed gardening and tending to his flowers; however, he most enjoyed serving his customers, many of whom he considered good friends. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor; parents, William and Annie Luciak; brothers: Joe, John, and Don; and sisters, Mary and Rose. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his sons: Darryl, and Ken (Tracy) and their children Sarah (Aaron Wandler) and Joel; sister, Helen (Willard) Richards; brother, Edward (Marlene) Luciak; sisters-in-law: Doreen Luciak, Irene Luciak, Helen Luciak, Irene Knox, and Margaret Wilson; brothers-in-law: Willard Richards, Steve (Janet) Kopeck, and Duane Brooks; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill will be sadly missed by his family and those whose lives he touched. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 15th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Dave Foley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 6739 Stephens Bay, Regina, SK S4X 3V8, Special Olympics Saskatchewan, 1121 Winnipeg St, Regina, SK S4R 1J5, or a charity of one’s choice.
