FREDERICK LONGMIRE (Sr.)
March 31st, 1919 – May 17th, 2016
Fred Longmire Sr. passed away peacefully at Providence Place in Moose Jaw, SK on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 at the age of 97 years. He was born in Moose Jaw as the youngest child of Herbert and Mary Longmire, immigrants from England. During WW2, Fred served in Germany, France, Italy and Holland with the Calgary Tanks. When he returned home Fred started work with the City of Moose Jaw, where he remained until his retirement. Vacations with his family were spent in the RV travelling Canada and the United States. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Fred will be missed by his sons, Fred Jr. (Bev) and Floyd; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives. Fred will be remembered very fondly for his gentleness, friendliness and fun loving ways. Fred’s family sends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Providence Place for their kindness, care, compassion and attention to Fred over the past few years. In keeping with Fred’s wishes, there will be no Funeral Service but a Reception Lunch is planned for Friday, June 3rd, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans Hall, 279 High St W, Moose Jaw, SK. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Fred’s name may be made to Providence Place Foundation Inc, 100 – 2nd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8.
