Elizabeth (Betty) Mary Lindquist
Elizabeth (Betty) Mary Lindquist, aged 84 years of Chaplin, SK, passed away June 27th, 2011. Betty was born December 18th, 1926 near Chaplin, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary Hamilton; sister, Vie Donnelly; brothers, Bob Hamilton and Ken Hamilton; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Christina Lindquist and granddaughter, Gail. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Lorne; sons, Alan (Marg) Lindquist and Glen (Lori) Lindquist; daughter, Brenda (Ron) Gleim; grandchildren: Charlene (John) Conway, Bernadette (Scott) McCulloch, Kathy Lindquist, Jeff (Carla) Lindquist, Kris (Kristyn) Lindquist; Deanna (Sheldon) Moore; Kirt (Jenn) Gleim, Erin (Chris) Stephens and Tanya (Chase) Schafer; great-grandchildren: Jenny, Kenny, Carter, Kyle, Zoe, Alexander, Erik, Sydni, Ethyn, Sierra, Kasey and Morgan; sister-in-law, Audrey Eastham; and many “special” nieces and nephews. Betty grew up in the Chaplin area and worked at the CIBC Bank in Moose Jaw. She married Lorne A. Lindquist on September 15th, 1948. They farmed at Valjean until September 1957, when Lorne and Betty moved to manage the 1 & 19 BA Service Station west of Chaplin. Betty worked at Donnelly’s Store with Vie and Roland for a number of years and continued to do books at the Service Station. Betty worked at Sask. Minerals from 1972 until 1985. Lorne and Betty moved into Chaplin in 1977 and spent winters in Yuma, Arizona and Palm Springs area from 1977 until 2003 where they made many friends. In recent years, they spent their time in Chaplin and holidaying in Saskatchewan (Waskaseu), Alberta and British Columbia. Betty was always one for keeping her mind active by doing word puzzles, needlepoint, making cards on the computer, e-mailing and playing computer games. Until just recently, she worked with Alan’s company as a bookkeeper. Betty and Lorne are very family oriented and enjoyed having the family so close so they could attend the family get-togethers. We would like to thank the whole health care system, especially Pioneer Lodge, for the wonderful care our wife and mom (Betty) received, as well as the support they provided to the family. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 5th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chaplin Community Complex. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and interment will take place in Chaplin Cemetery. Donations may be made in Betty’s name to the Chaplin Lutheran Church.
