Douglas Martin Lien
Douglas Martin Lien was born in Moose Jaw on May 7, 1920 and died in Moose Jaw on January 16, 2008. He was raised in Lake Valley where he attended elementary and high school. In 1941, he joined the air force and in 1944 he married Vivian Banyard in Winnipeg. They farmed in the Lake Valley District until the early 1960’s and then moved to Moose Jaw. In Moose Jaw, Doug sold cars and then later worked for a gas company until his retirement. Doug excelled at baseball in his early years and was invited to play semi-pro baseball in the United States. He also enjoyed playing hockey as well as hunting and fishing. In his retirement years, Doug enjoyed his grandchildren and he was a favorite with them. Doug was predeceased by his parents, brother Keith and his wife Vivian. He is survived by his five children; Bill (Wendy) Lien, Garry (Diane) Lien, Don (Lois) Lien, Carol (Ray) Jones, and Randy (Crystal) Lien and 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 21st, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Fr Alex Osei will be Presiding Celebrant and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery.
