Eileen Lewis
Eileen Lewis (nee Thomas), of Moose Jaw, formerly of Baildon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2007. Born on March 21,1922 and raised in the Lillstrom district she married Lorne Lewis of the Baildon district June 8th, 1944. She will now be reunited with her beloved husband Lorne and daughter Elaine. Predeceased by her parents Richard (Dick) and Jane Thomas, sisters: Kathleen, Lila, Anne, brothers: Hughie and Ritchie. Sister-in-law Kate, Brother inlaws: Hugh, George, Morgan, Richard and Charlie. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Coleen (Ray) Sheward, son Murray Lewis, daughter Penny Lewis (Keith), Grandchildren- Wanda (Herb) White, Mike (Marci) Sheward, great grandchildren – Ivy, Logan and Will Sheward, best friend Shirley Kellington and lifetime friend Mary Bachman. Mother was famous for her cooking abilities and her famous feather light buns, she enjoyed setting her hand to poetry, listening to the Mortlach Old Tyme Fiddlers music, and spent many hours playing cards and enjoying fellowship and coffee with her friends and family at the Co-op. She was very active in the Petrolia Tea Timers and the Baildon U.C.W. as well as family, she was very creative with her poetry writing skills and was sought after for many a verse be it for family or social events and cookbooks. She took special joy in visiting with her family and friends. Her laughter and smile will live in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank the staff of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, The Pioneer Lodge and their care givers, Home Care, Dr. Rininsland, Dr. Rayson and Dr. Brown. The Funeral service will take place on Monday, February 26, 1:30 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Linda Owens will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Moose Jaw Salvation Army.
