WILLIAM (BILL) FREDERICK LEIPERT
July 24th, 1929 – June 26th, 2017
With incredible sadness we bid Bill farewell as he embarked on his final journey. He was predeceased by his wife, Vera; parents, William and Katherine; brother, Donald; and sister, Norene. Bill is survived by his son, John (Sharon) and grandson, Kelson, all of Stratford, ON; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill had a 28 year career with the RCAF. In that time he served with the UN Peace Force in Egypt and Israel, as well as several places throughout Canada. Bill and Vera finally settled in Moose Jaw, close to family. After honourable discharge from the RCAF he moved on to CP Rail, and then worked as an addiction counsellor. He was known to many as “Big Bill” for his large stature and personality. Bill was very athletic in his younger years, curling and playing baseball. Baseball was his biggest love and he enjoyed watching it endlessly on TV. He was very involved in the community through the Masonic Lodge in Moose Jaw, as well as the province. He travelled extensively in that capacity throughout North America and dragged his wife along with him. Bill was also a member of the Legion. At Bill’s request, no Funeral Service will be held and burial with his wife, mother and father-in-law will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. As Bill was a prostate cancer survivor, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or the Moose Jaw Shrine Club, 1767 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 1L6. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
