Dallys Lylla Leduc
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a very special Aunt who touched all of our hearts. Dallys Lylla Leduc (née: Ruffles) passed away quietly in the early morning of Friday, October 18th, 2019 with her niece Agnes and nephew Larry by her side. Dallys was born May 8th, 1933 to the late Lylla (Mischke) and P.E. (Tom) Ruffles at Eriksdale, Manitoba. She spent the first 8 years of her life living in a white washed log shanty. On July 11th, 1959 she married a young man from Saskatchewan, Joe Leduc. During their 59 years of marriage they lived in many provinces, as well as in Germany, because of Uncle Joe’s career as an Air Force Mechanic. They loved to travel and camp extensively wherever they were stationed. Aunt Dallys’ eyes would light up when she talked about their many adventures camping, cruising and exploring the places they lived together. Aunt Dallys had many hobbies and interests which included curling, lawn bowling, quilting, sewing, cake decorating, knitting, crocheting, petit point and playing cards. She volunteered much of her time teaching many of her hobbies. She also volunteered for the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, holding many executive positions. She also convened Legion funeral teas, banquets and many other projects. Dallys was predeceased by her husband, Joe Leduc on June 27th, 2018; sister, Phyllis Cook (née Ruffles) on July 27th, 2018; brother-in-law, John Cook on February 4th, 2009; as well as three infant brothers: Edward, Phillip and Harry Ruffles. Leaving to mourn are: nephew, Edward Cook and his wife Karen; niece, Agnes Giesbrecht, her husband Larry and their children Ryan and Caitlin; nephew, Harvey Cook, his wife Heather and their children Ian, Leroy and Annie; and nephew, George Cook, his wife Roxanne and their children Madison and Amber. On Uncle Joe’s side of the family: brother-in-law Donat Leduc, his wife Josephine, brother-in-law, Lucien Leduc; nephew, Richard Leduc; nephew, Gilbert Leduc; niece, Jackie Leduc and her children Carmen, Michelle and Shaun; and niece, Nicole Corriveau, her husband David and their children Jordan and Bridget. At Aunt Dallys’ request, a Private Family Service will be held at a later date. She will be placed to rest with Joe, the love of her life, at the Beechwood Military Cemetery in Ottawa. If you so desire, a donation in memory of Dallys may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, #1 – 2217 Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK S7L 9Z9. Some people bring beauty and warmth into the ordinary world and when they are not around we feel the absence of their light…Aunt Dallys’ light will continue to shine in our hearts…
