Violet Leapard
Violet Leapard: Voilet was born in Beechy, Sk. May 27th, 1918. The family later farmed in the Abermule area, where she lived until she left home at twenty. Her first job was milking cows. She enjoyed being with animals. She had trained a goat to ride on the back of a horse. She was a country music fan when “country wasn’t cool”. She enjoyed singing and playing her guitar. Wilf Carter was number one in her world. She proudly rode a horse in the Calgary Stampede Parade. Later in life, she enjoyed knitting till she lost her vision. Violet had moved to the States where she met, married and divorced Pat Patton. After the divorce she moved to Moose Jaw, Sk. Her last years were at the Extendicare Nursing Home till her passing on July 10th, 2009 at 91 years. Violet is survived by her sister Nellie (nee Leapard) Flear and brother Morris Leapard of Dinsmore. Violet was predeceased by her parents Melissa and Harry Leapard, brothers; Lawrence, Bruce, Cecil, Garfield, Melvin, Perry, Oliver and sisters; Mildred (nee Leapard) Hendricks and Ethel (nee Leapard) Martin. She will be remembered by nieces, nephews and their families. A family graveside service will be in the Dinsmore Cemetery.
