John Aldridge Laybourne
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Aldridge Laybourne aged 68 years of Tugaske, SK, passed away on Friday, January 17th, 2025. John was born on September 23rd, 1956, in Central Butte, SK to parents, James and Myrtle Laybourne and grew up on the family farm north of Tugaske.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, James. John is survived by his partner, Dawn Bennett; brother, Elvin Laybourne; nieces, Nicole Laybourne (Orlando Silva Fuentes) and Kathleen (Doug) Gessner; great-niece, Shawna Gessner; sister-in-law, Ellen Laybourne; as well as by numerous cousins.
John loved life on his farm near Tugaske, SK. He was a professional truck driver, farmed with his brother, and raised cattle and horses. He loved caring for his animals and always had a dog by his side. John believed a good horse and a good dog could move cattle better than any quad. He also claimed to have ridden a horse before he learned to walk.
When not working, John loved to go fishing or visit a good auction sale, enjoying his time at Johnstone’s Auction Mart. He was a rodeo enthusiast and spent some time hunting. He will be missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tugaske Hall in Tugaske, SK. As an expression of sympathy, donations in John’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 55 St Clair Ave W, Suite 300, Toronto, ON M4V 2Y7. Dawn, I am so happy that John was a part of your life. As the years went by and I got to know him better, it was always fun to be able to tease him. My heart breaks for you and Elvin. John will definitely be missed by many . Love and hugs my dear friend. ❤️
