William “Red” Melvin Lawrence
William “Red” Melvin Lawrence, aged 89 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017. He was predeceased by his brothers, Earl and Dan; parents, Melvin and Nellie; and his wife, Georgina. Red is survived by Maxine Ross (Earl); Brian Lawrence (Chris Magowan); Sandi McLennon (John Aitken); Craig (Colleen) Lawrence; Larry (Gloria) Lawrence; sister, Ellen (Gord) Brown; as well as 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Red was born in Regina, SK on January 30th, 1928 and moved to Moose Jaw at a young age. He worked on the West Coast in the lumber business for a few years and then worked for CP Rail for 41 years, retiring in 1986. Red spent his retirement in Parkview at Buffalo Pound Lake. He enjoyed the keyboard, spending 1 – 2 hours each day practising, as music played a large part in his life. Red was a great at tinkering, repairing and restoring many motorbikes and cars over the years. In keeping with Red’s wishes, a private service will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Red’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.
