Mary Law
It with sadness, but in appreciation for her life, that the family of Mary Law of Moose Jaw, SK announce her peaceful passing at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital on Monday, June 4th, 2018 at age 86 years. Mary was born in Dafoe, SK on March 9th, 1932 to John and Julia (Bzdel) Novakoski, the third child of eight. She grew up and took her schooling at Dafoe and Wynyard, SK. She married William (Bill) Law (Lewandoski) on May 18th, 1952. Mary and Bill enjoyed time spent and friends made in various military postings in Canada and Germany. They had two sons, Terry and Dwayne, and eventually settled in Moose Jaw in 1958, where she spent the rest of her life. She worked at Eaton’s until the store closed in 1986, then found much joy in babysitting two of her granddaughters. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, knitting, shopping, playing cards, and the occasional casino visit. Mary had a great sense of humour and enjoyed a good laugh. She loved dogs and cats, and spoke often of Tiny, Tiger, Josie and Lexi. She loved time spent at Big River and Buffalo Pound during the summer months. In her later years Mary lost her eyesight, which significantly impacted her life. Various people and agencies then provided assistance, which happily enabled her to live in her own home until her passing. She attended Maguire Center at Providence Place and loved the friendships and fun she had there. She was predeceased by her parents, Julia and John; siblings: William and Walter Novakoski, Jean Maloney, Pat Freyling, and Theresa (Tina) Novakoski; and many members of Bill’s family. Mary will be missed by her husband, Bill; sons, Terry (Michelle), and Dwayne (Linda); granddaughters who were the light of her life: Taryl, Janelle and Jessica Law; brother, Edward (Natalie) Novakoski; sister, Marcella Voeltz; sisters-in-law: Gertie Novakoski, Gloria Novakoski, Rose Yaskowich, and Betty Lewandoski; as well as many nieces and nephews.
